Naija Diaspora Hub solves the "Crisis of Connection" — the challenge diaspora communities face finding authentic Nigerian products and services in their area.

The platform enables discovery, verification, and transactions between diaspora users and local Nigerian businesses through a premium, trust-first interface. Vendors undergo a rigorous three-step verification process before receiving the NDG Verified Badge, ensuring quality and authenticity across the marketplace.

Technologies

The Challenge

Nigerian diaspora communities worldwide struggle to find authentic, trustworthy local vendors — whether for food, fashion, events, or professional services. Existing solutions are fragmented, unverified, and lack the trust infrastructure needed for high-value transactions across borders.

The platform needed to bridge two worlds: diaspora members seeking authentic Nigerian experiences and local Nigerian vendors wanting to reach global customers. This required building trust from scratch — through verification, reviews, and a reputation system — while keeping the experience seamless for both parties.

The Solution

We built a full-stack marketplace with a Next.js frontend featuring Framer Motion animations, glassmorphism UI, and micro-interactions. The NestJS backend powers 24 modules including auth with JWT and Google OAuth, vendor management, subscriptions via Stripe, real-time messaging via Bull/Redis queues, and push notifications.

The platform uses a "Roots & Rays" design language — balancing Nigerian heritage with global reach. Primary green (#00972a) and golden accents (#f5bf03) reflect the brand identity while Upstash Redis caches high-traffic queries and the MongoDB database handles flexible business profiles with varying attributes.
